Best pizza ever

Thursday, September 15, 2016

We are huge fans of any kind of pizza (of course the tastiest you'll find in Rome). We've been searching and testing many recipes, but recently we came across the perfect one. It's not that healthy although all of us have our weaknesses. The recipe is quite easy so even if you're a beginner you'll manage.

We tried to make the dough closest to Italian with thin and crispy crust. The most important part in this process is kneading your dough for at least 5 minutes, this will make it extra elastic and won't stick to your fingers. Our secret is also to roll out dough really thin, but be careful to not tear it up.
Our favourites for this recipe are Hawaiian with a twist and Pepperoni.

Total time

Servings: 4 pizzas
Recipe type: dinner, supper

Ingredients

DOUGH
  • 500 g plain flour
  • 25 g fresh yeast (or 7 g dry)
  • 300 ml lukewarm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • olive oil
TOMATO SAUCE
  • 1 can tomatoes (drained)
  • 2 tsp tomato puree
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
TOPPINGS

 Hawaiian
  • 1 cup pineapple
  • 5 slices your fav ham
  • 1/2 cup blue cheese
  • 1 mozzarella ball / 1 cup gouda cheese

 Pepperoni
  • chorizo (few slices)
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 hot chili pepper
  • 1 mozarella ball / or 1 cup gouda cheese

Instructions

  1. In a medium size bowl combine yeast, lukewarm water with sugar, set aside for 5 minutes. In a bigger bowl mix flour and salt.
  2. Add yeast mixture to the bowl with flour and start kneading. You should get elastic and not sticky dough. Be patient, it takes 5-7 minutes and remember you don't have to add more flour.
  3. In a clean bowl add about 1 tbsp olive oil and spread it around the sides. Put your dough inside, cover with clean kitchen towel and let it grow for 1 hour.
  4. Meanwhile prepare all of the toppings and the sauce. Put canned tomatoes, tomato puree, garlic and seasonings in a standing blender and blend until smooth.
  5. Preheat the oven to 230C.
  6. When the dough is ready take it out and divide into 4 separate balls. On clean surface sprinkle some flour and start rolling out each piece. Line your baking pans and place the dough inside.
  7. Top with desired amount of tomato sauce, then sprinkle with cheese and put on other toppings. We suggest drizzling with olive oil and small amount of dried oregano.
  8. Bake for 15-17 minutes or until crisp and golden.
Enjoy your pizza!
